SICILY. Leontini. Circa 450-440 BC. Litra (Silver, 13 mm, 0.72 g, 6 h). ΛEO-N (retrograde) Head of a lion with open jaws to right. Rev. Apollo standing left, holding olive branch in his left hand and sacrificing from patera over altar with his right; to right, barley grain. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte 50. HGC 2, 692. SNG ANS 264-6. Lightly toned. Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die and with minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, extremely fine.
